Description of sand
- Sand should be relatively free of debris - vegetation, rocks / gravel, and contain a
good amount of fines ( unwashed ). it should compact well with water and remain packed
after drying.
- Common names - fill sand, silt sand, pond sand, bank sand, sandy loam, infield sand,
bluff sand, blow sand, PGA sand, top dressing, cyclone sand, etc.

This sieve analysis of an ideal sand should be used for comparison only. These
percentages can vary considerably and still work well for our purposes. |

Samples must be representative of material delivered. If there is gravel, rocks, or
debris please be sure to include this in the sample. One cup will be a sufficient
amount for a sample.
